This workshop aims to teach teenagers about a different field of « urban art », an older version if you will, combined with today’s tools. It’s the field of sign painting, drawing words on shop windows, walls, signs, using elegant and exciting lettering and typography.
During this three-hour session, the students will get a small introduction into sign painting, and shown some examples (on a projector if possible). Then they will be shown examples of typography and make a choice of word or letter. This will be sketched on paper first, using pencils. Then the sketch will be copied onto a wooden board, and painted, using special paint pens.
